Private, Public or Hybrid cloud?
What Are The 3 Different Types of Cloud Computing Software?
There are multiple types of cloud computing with different capabilities and benefits. Cloud computing encompasses three key forms: public cloud, private cloud, and hybrid cloud.
Implementing the right type of cloud computing for a business, based on their specific requirements, provides them with a reliable and valuable IT infrastructure.
Here are the different types of cloud services in cloud computing.
Public Cloud
Public cloud computing includes compute resources that are available for the public to rent through the internet. Networking, storage, and virtual machines are all cloud computing resources conventionally available in public cloud services. These cloud-based resources are hosted in the vendor’s data centres and can be rented by businesses to build an IT infrastructure.
Renting these services takes away the stress of managing the activities using internal resources. The main cloud computing providers of public cloud services are Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
These large providers are one of the main benefits of using this cloud solution as the hardware is hosted and maintained by these companies. The model is charged on a pay-as-you-go basis, which means it’s cost-effective and features flexible scalability.
Private Cloud
A private cloud solution is delivered over the internet or a private internal network to private users. Instead of renting resources from a cloud provider, private cloud services are owned by an organisation. Cloud computing is stored at a business’s data centre using its operating systems and hardware.
For businesses that want complete control of the resources, a private cloud solution is ideal.
Total control over the cloud infrastructure allows staff to develop the cloud services around business processes. Bespoke cloud computing can be beneficial for organisations operating in unique niches as internal resources can tailor the cloud solutions to match your company’s requirements. Sensitive data often has to be stored within a business’s security boundary, which includes a private cloud network.
Hybrid Cloud
Hybrid cloud computing combines both private and public cloud services. Both elements are connected over the internet using a dedicated channel or a VPN to ensure resources and data are secure. Utilising a hybrid cloud solution gives organisations more flexibility when managing workloads and resources. Different features can be moved between cloud services to adapt to changing requirements.
A business can hire out the storage capacity of a public cloud provider while using its own hardware for data processing. This is an example of an effective hybrid cloud computing strategy. However, the right combination of cloud service resources depends on your business’s needs.
